Nektaria Palaiologou

Dr. Nektaria Palaiologou is assistant professor in «Intercultural Education» at the Department of Early Childhood Education-School of Education of the University of Western Macedonia (UoWM) www.nured.uowm.gr/nekpalaiologou.

Currently, a Board Member of the International Association for Intercultural Education (IAIE) and serves as Associate Editor of the «Intercultural Education» Journal, Taylor and Francis.

In 2009, in cooperation the IAIE (www.iaie.org) and the Hellenic Migration Policy Institute (www.imepo.gr), under the aegis of UNESCO, she organized in June 2009 in Athens the International Conference entitled «Paideia, Polity and Demoi» (www.iaie.org/athens) with the support of 7 organizations. She was the academic supervisor of the National Programme «Integration of second generation migrant students in the educational system» that is implemented by the Department of Early Childhood Education of the UoWM (until May 2010).

Recently, she co-edited the book "Mapping the Broad Field of Multicultural and Intercultural Education Worldwide: Towards the Development of a New Citizen’’, published at CSP. http://www.c-s-p.org/flyers/Mapping-the-Broad-Field-of-Multicultural-and-Intercultural-Education-Worldwide--Towards-the-Developm1−4438−4031−9.htm.

Dr. Palaiologou’s current research interests focus on: citizenship issues for migrant children in Greece, and on teachers’ education and training in the field of Intercultural Education.
